Who we are

Leading education for every island

MEHRD sets the policy direction for the education sector, funds and supports schools in all nine provinces and Honiara, and quality-assures teaching and learning nationwide.

Our work is guided by the National Education Action Plan and the Education Strategic Framework 2016–2030, alongside the Education Act 2023. Together these set out how we widen access, lift quality, manage resources and improve the efficiency of the system so that learning outcomes keep improving.
